VET - The Switch

The Switch by Philip Dart

Dear teenagers, have you ever thought about bodyswapping with your hardworking mum?
Dear mums, are you aware of all the challenges an ordinary school day poses?

If you want to find out more then watch
The Switch
Friday, 26th January 2012: The pupils of the second, third and fourth forms assemble in the Festsaal to watch this year`s VET production.

The play: After a hard day at work Kim, a chiropractor gets home to find her flat in a mess. Her son, Dan, a sixteen year-old gaming freak, has again left all his things lying around and withdrawn to his room, where he plays his favourite computer game. While Kim is drying her hair and Dan playing his game both get an electric shock caused by lightning. And guess what happens?
They find themselves in each other`s bodies and have to cope with all the difficulties this situation poses. Dan/Kim has to take over her practice and deal with patients, among them their nasty landlord. Kim/Dan has to go to school and take exams, also experience what being permanently bullied means.  Dan/Kim is even called to the headmaster because heshe was involved in a fight which left the bully unconscious. Fortunately, after one day this adventure is over. Both get back to normal after suffering an electric shock again.
However, they have learned a lot about each other`s lives and can understand each other`s point of view much better now. So next time you feel your parents are going on at you, just imagine, would you really like to be in your mum`s / dad`s place?
